One render should become four ratios. Extend the canvas rather than regenerating the shot.

The problem

A campaign needs a square for feed, a 9:16 for story and paid, a wide crop for the site banner and a tall crop for the PDP. Regenerating the shot at each ratio gives you four subtly different products and throws away the one you already approved.

Outpainting extends the scene around a frozen subject. The product doesn’t move, doesn’t change, doesn’t get resampled · the room around it just gets bigger. It’s the fastest way to turn one locked frame into a full set of ratios.

“Completely unchanged” plus four named properties, because a single word of instruction here is not enough · scale is the one that slips.

“Generous empty space above” is an art direction decision made at extension time. Copy space you didn’t plan for is copy space the client asks you to add later.

“No new light sources” because the model will invent a window in the new area if you don’t forbid it, and the shadow directions will stop agreeing.

What to watch for

• A seam where the original frame ended · usually a slight tone step in the background.
• Shadows in the extended area falling the wrong way.
• Surface patterns like marble veining repeating obviously; break it up with a second, smaller extension rather than one large one.
• Extend before you upscale, always. Upscaled edges outpaint badly.
